Chinese Kangxi Period ‘Egg and Spinach’ Glazed Biscuit Porcelain Figure of a Dog
This charming Chinese porcelain figure of a dog dates to the Kangxi period (1662–1722) and is a fine example of biscuit porcelain decorated in the distinctive “egg and spinach” glaze. This celebrated palette—combining rich aubergine, deep green, and warm yellow tones—was highly prized during the Kangxi era and is closely associated with early Qing dynasty ceramics.
Modelled with pleasing naturalism, the dog displays a lively stance and expressive character, its form enhanced by the contrast of glossy glazes applied over the unglazed biscuit body. The subtle variations in color and texture highlight the sculptural quality of the piece and demonstrate the technical skill of Kangxi-period craftsmen.
