RARE ANTIQUE CHINESE RED BLUE FLAMBE GLAZE HANDLED HU VASE YONGZHENG SEAL

A fine, and we believe very rare red flambe glazed hu vase. The vase has an incised Yongzheng Imperial seal mark found to the base and we believe this vase to be of the period. The vase has a beautiful and rich red & blue flambe glaze design. We believe this hu form with its unique side handle design is a known Yongzheng form that was created within the Imperial kilns during the period, and very likely derived from an earlier archaic bronze form. 

We have included images taken in direct sunlight, including the vases interior. We have had the pleasure of handling a few noted Yongzheng and earlier Qianlong mark and period examples similar to this over the years. It is worth noting that if you look at the interior glaze images this is identical to other period examples we have handled over the years. Later examples also try and contrive this very unique spotted slip white & orange base glaze, but it always comes out looking odd on later examples. If you compare Yongzheng and Qianlong period examples you will see this examples base glaze is very comparable. 

 As noted in the condition report, there are some minor kiln flaws found to the bases footrim. These lines are original from when the vase was kilned and do not carry through to the upper red glaze. The lines have likely darkened over time. We are not exactly sure what this vase would be worth, it is well worth looking into.

Condition: Estate-fresh, minor glaze imperfections and wear including original kiln lines found to the base rim that do not carry through to the upper base. The vase is otherwise in substantially fine condition considering its early age with no losses or repairs. UV light reveals no hidden damage. The vase sits nice and straight and stable on its footrim.
